Wallpaper engine conflicting with night light
This morning when I booted up my computer, I turned off night light and observed as there were artifacts near the top of my monitor. I have found wallpaper engine to be conflicting with the Windows 10 night light feature.

We use the night light feature extensively and have not had any similar experiences or reports, so it's very unlikely that it's a conflict with the Windows night light functionality and Wallpaper Engine directly. The next time you have this issue, please share a screenshot but likely the root cause might be something else. Usually issues like this are caused by other apps injecting something into Wallpaper Engine because the mistake the app for a game.

Could AMD software conflict with it? And the artifact doesn't show up in video recordings so its unlikely it'd show up in screenshots.

Edit: I tried doing a fresh reinstall of my AMD drivers and software and its still occuring. Regardless of the wallpaper. It started happening today. Could it be my Vram?

Edit 2: I just stress tested my VRAM and I noticed no artifacts. Could it be a ram issue?

Make it do the weird artifacts then give good ol snip-it a try:

--> Press Windows Key and type "Snip"
--> then press enter.

Now Snip-It opens:

--> Press New
--> Overlay the portion you want
--> Press Save

I can't remember ho many times I Just used snip-it in situations and it worked better/quicker. Your Smart Phone would probably work too since it's independent come to think of it. Could check Event Viewer also for any random one-off error messages.

Hope it gets resolved and hope this helps with the image for the team. :Fistpump:

If the artifact does not appear in screenshots, then it is definitely not coming from Wallpaper Engine itself and must be some sort of overlay or something else that is not an "ordinary Windows window". I think a driver-level overlay is probably a good guess but maybe you have some other apps installed or running that are potentially creating overlays. Often this happens because these other apps mistake Wallpaper Engine for a game (because it "looks like a game" from a technical point of view).

Like I said, it is a bit weird that we have not had any similar reports because usually, if there is an issue like that, we tend to get multiple reports quickly. Check any other drivers or apps that you may have installed that may have the ability to create overlays or something along those lines. You could even try and terminate all processes in the Windows task manager one by one (except Wallpaper Engine and any system processes) and see if the issue goes away, then you would know which process is ultimately responsible for these artifacts.

Weird. I checked the version inside AMD Adrenalin Software. It says:

Driver Version
23.10.24.03-230824a-395232C-AIB

AMD Windows Driver Version
31.0.21018.6011

My version now is 23.9.3 released on 9/21/2023. Tested again a few times and no artifacts appear anymore.

Edit1: Also updated wallpaper engine recently, but dont know if that did something or not.

I still have 23.9.1. Should I try updating to 23.9.3?
