Noob here please help

I've just got my new 4k OLED monitor and would like to simply set a video as a wallpaper such that it plays whenever there is no fullscreen app running. I'm not sure if wallpaper engine can figure out when the screen is not visible so that it does not consume resources but its a bonus if it can avoid unnecessary processing on 4k hdr video while i game...

Has anyone here set up something like this? I'm trying to make it work such that i can download some 8k hdr videos that you see from youtube and make them play as wallpaper.

Hi u can download a video and create a new Wallpaper. But there r a lot of 4k hdr videos alr on wallpaper Engin.

Check the performance tab in the settings to see your current rules.
As you won’t notice a difference between 4K and 8k I‘d suggest to instead use the 4K content that’s available due to the amount of wallpapers.

What you have desrcibed is how wallpaper engine function by default.

Watching an 8k video in a 4k monitor is just a waste of resurces, increased processing load with no gain in quality

This is how the app works by default, you will not have to change anything. You can tweak this by changing the "Other application fullscreen" option in the "Performance" tab of the app settings but it should not be necessary, the "Pause" / "Pause per display" option is selected by default and is fine for 99.9% of users.

is there any true 4k hdr video looping wall papers in the marketplace? i couldnt find any that actually looked good, seems all of them compressed crap. It cant be 100mb if its in this resolution unless its few seconds long.

I have a 1.8 GB file with resolution
3840x2160 and 60fps

Adding this file to wallpaper engine just renders it to do nothing, its a black screen? is there some limitations on size/resolution?
