wallpaper too bright

i have tried reinstalling the graphics drivers and reseting the video settings of my driver to default but every time I upload a video to wallpaper engine the video gets brighter

Do you maybe have multiple GPUs (for example Nvidia and Intel)? Make sure to reset both. Bright video-based wallpapers are almost always caused by faulty driver settings. Also try playing the video file in Windows Media Player (not another player, it must be Windows Media Player), does the file also look to bright there?

yes I reset my nvidia and intel driver settings, the video plays perfectly in windows media player and doesnt look bright

The only other thing that really controls brightness is if you expand the "Show color options" menu on the right when selecting your wallpaper. You can increase the brightness there but other than that, Wallpaper Engine will not modify the brightness. If you are unsure, try resetting Wallpaper Engine entirely by pressing the red reset button at the bottom of the "General" tab in the settings.

If the issue still persists after that, something must be interfering with Wallpaper Engine's video playback. Usually this would be the drivers but maybe you have some sort of tool or display profile installed that detects media playback?

there should be a nob to change it if not there are lowering your monitor brightness or other applications that help online
