Anyway to download wallpapers as video files?
I want to edit certain wallpapers to 3 second loops but the OG wallpapers are like 3-4 minute long videos. Is there any way to download wallpapers to my computer as mp4 files aside from screen recording?

If it's a video wallpaper, you can find it in it's folder, if a it's any other type, you need to record it.

Appreciate the help. Follow up question, do you think renaming the files for convenience would mess up the app? All the files have names that are just strings of numbers including the content folder

Do not rename or move any of the files directly, this will break your Steam installation and might stop Steam from downloading any files altogether. If you want to change any of the files, always copy them, do not move them.

If you have already renamed / moved / deleted the files, you often can fix Steam by validating the Wallpaper Engine files through Steam which will make Steam repair itself:

Thank you, I thought I deleted that comment when I realized I could just copy the files. I didn't rename or move anything, so we're all good.
Oh, since your a dev, can you tell me what's up with the DXS file extensions? I've never seen those before. When combing through, some of the wallpapers had mp4's I could use, but a lot of them only offered their preview images/gifs despite having more image options in the actual wallpaper engine that I can't find within the workshop folder

These are shader files, you cannot do anything with them on your own. Keep in mind that Wallpaper Engine offers different wallpaper types, you can see the type on the right-hand side when selecting a wallpaper. Video type wallpapers are just that, video files.

Scene wallpapers are basically more like levels in a video game. They are created with our editor and they are rendered in real-time, they are not videos that loop which is why you also cannot export them as a video (it would be like asking to export a video game as a movie, it just does not work that way).
