Multiple machines/force offline?
If I have Wallpaper Engine running on my desktop and I try to play a game on my Steam Deck it logs my desktop out of Steam (because it thinks I'm playing 2 games at once). Is there a way around this without constantly setting my desktop to offline mode? I don't want to do that because I play games on both.

Just found this post, sorry: https://steamcommunity.com/app/431960/discussions/2/1711816076697507886/

Maybe I still had the config window open. I'll test again.

Yeah this should not be an issue as long as ui32.exe (the Wallpaper Engine user interface) is not running and connected to Steam.

Happened again last night and I'm sure the settings window wasn't opened. It was running in the system tray though. Are you saying that it must be completely "quit"? Doesn't that mean wallpapers won't work?

If you initially (re)started the program over Steam then Steam will track it and, due to a bug in Steam, it will show it as in-game when your internet reconnects.

To avoid this Steam bug, you can either use the automatic start or start it directly, then Steam will not be able to latch onto it. The background program itself that displays the wallpaper specifically doesn't include the "Steamworks SDK" and can't connect to Steam in any way.

This is the current FAQ on this for more information: https://help.wallpaperengine.io/en/steam/ingame.html

All you need to do is exiting the app that allow you to change settings (without killing the engine in task bar). The wallpaper would still run, you just can't edit the setting on the run, that way, the wallpaper engine status would turned off.

That was not useful. @Biohazard already helped me solve the issue. Once I set it to autorun with Windows and rebooted everything works as expected.

No this is a bug with wallpaperengine, not steam

I am currently not able to load wallpaper engine beause of the previously mentioned bug with wallpaper engine (not steam). I also hate steam, and will not be purchasing any games that I do not own from them. This is a wallpaper enginge bug. NOT Steam.
