Merge assets to background?
OK so here's what I want to do but am unable to figure out:

I want to create a wallpaper that parallaxes vertically over an image that's oriented as a portrait. So I have a 3018x4212 picture that I can add some assets like light shafts and sparkles to. I have no trouble creating a project resolution of say 3000x1688 and making that parallax nicely within the borders of the original artwork, but the assets seem to shift position where I don't want them to.

If I start working within the stated project resolution the added assets will move along with the parallax regardless of if I set the parallax depth to 0 in the layers with those assets.

If I add the assets to the original size image first, putting them in place before I create the project resolution of 3000x1688, they will move when I center the 3000x1688 project "window" to the center of the image.

I'd like to make the light shafts look like they come through the trees, and the sparkles to look like they come off the water without them sliding all over the place when the parallax slides over the image. Is there a way to lock these assets in place over the background image? Something like a layer merge perhaps? I've been googling this for an hour or so and can't seem to find an answer.

Seems like a poorly set up parallax to me, you can't just "merge" layers, you'd need to bake textures and this is not Blender.

I don't really understand the issue, the parallax offset applied by the mouse affects all layers the same way. Perhaps you could submit a wallpaper to the Workshop with an image and an effect where the issue occurs.

If something uses "perspective" rendering then it will look different based on the angle it is observed from, but images don't use it by default and most effects (i.e. light shafts that you mentioned) don't use it by default either.

I'm having the same problem here. The magic sparkles I put on starts stay totally still while the picture behind it move. Did you find the solution MaxMagnus?

What is the parallax depth set to for the Magic sparkle?

Doesn't really matter what depth they have, always moving the opposite direction of the wallpaper when that moves. I've tried all the possible things I can think of, no luck.
Would like MaxMagnus be able to lock them into place on a specific place on the wallpaper, so they move together. I'm totally new to using parallax so maybe there is away.
Maybe the problem is that I can't generate depth map cause the "ok" is grayed out. So I just painted what I wanted to be affected.

It sounds like you mean the new depth parallax effect, that's basically very different from the basic parallax options for layers, but we did make it so that they can be synchronized.

You have to match the parallax value of the particle effect with the depth map that you painted. So first just edit your depth map until you like how it is, then select the magic sparkle layer and adjust the two "parallax depth" sliders on the right side.

Click the icon between them so you can enter different values and change them until they match up with the image effect.

This is basically what was done here for the character, which is a different layer but it matches with the depth parallax effect: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2665939987&searchtext=

Ye I think I did all that. As I said, I've tried to match and fix every number I can think off. Maybe I understand you wrong and is missing something.
I know where the layers are where you add assets, the scene options, and how to add effects on the original wallpaper.
I for example don't understand what you mean by "parallax value of the particle effect "
So please explain again with great detail. Sorry. x)

I would just love an option to actually add existing assets like "magic sparkle" or "fog" as an effect instead to your wallpaper, then it would stick and you wouldn't have to worry about this. Then again as I said, I'm new and is probably missing something vital and easy.

He is referring to the parallax depth sliders.

Ye the parallax depth sliders I know what they are. Didn't connect them with being the "parallax value of the particle effect". As I said, I've done all I can think of. Nothing works.

Can you please share the project and explain which layer is supposed to be aligned with what?

Please zip the entire project (click on edit -> open in Explorer to find the project files) and send it to logs@wallpaperengine.io as an email attachment or share it somewhere like Google Drive and post the link here for us to check out.

This is what I did.
Take this pic. https://imgur.com/ajNwqO6
Activate parallax. Paint the parallax on the ships. And put , magic sparkles on somr of the stars.
Then with whatever settings, the magic sprakles you put on will be off..

Did you send the project? I think the developer wants to see the settings, not the image.

I want to but as I said I'm new to this. And I don't really know where to find what to send.

click the "Edit" button in the editor and drop down to "Open in explorer" to find the project folder and then zip that project folder and share it with the developer via email or google drive
