Using Intel HD Graphics instead of NVIDIA card (Laptop)
Hi!

I found some old topics about it, but they didnt helped with my situation, i was hoping someone could help.

I want toe Wallpaper Engine to work ONLY on intel Graphics, i check the old topics on how to do it, it open the software on the Intel graphics BUT, when i add an wallpaper, the "Wallpaper32.exe" appear on NVidia activity notification, even setting it to the intel card. Someone had the same problem and could fix it? I apprecisate any input.

EDIT: I discovered that, some wallspapers triigger thar process in NVIDIA Card notifier, some dont, still trying to find what file trigger that so i can add it to use only in Intel GPU

Only "Scene" and "Video" wallpapers run on the wallpaper32.exe / wallpaper64.exe process, "Web" type wallpapers use the webwallpaper32.exe process and "Application" wallpapers (which are extremely rare though) use their own process. Using different wallpaper types might explain your description, try assigning webwallpaper32.exe to your Intel GPU as well.

Thanks for replying!

I added webwallpaper32.exe, wallpaper32.exe, wallpaper64.exe and wallpaperservice32_c.exe (i saw this one in the task manager), some wallpapers are still triggering that NVIDIA GPU notifier.

I tested switching all programs to use intel GPU and it worked, so isnt a bug on the GPU control i guess.

Any other thing i can try?

Please verify in the task manager which GPU is used, you should be able to see which program uses the Intel or Nvidia GPU in the details tab.

Wallpaper Engine is not aware of which GPU it's using, it's just what Windows assigned to it.

Maybe you are also talking about the UI process which is only started while you are actively browsing and choosing wallpapers, which is ui32.exe. In any case, please check in the task manager which process is supposedly using the Nvidia GPU.

Hey!

Sorry for taking long to reply, i wanted to check a few other things.

So, i checked the task manager using the wallpaper that trigger NVIDIA GPU and the ones not triggering, they all show GPU 0, that is my intel UHD, BUT, when using the ones that trigger the NVIDIA notifier, the dwm.exe sometimes jump to GPU 1, thats weird because it has nothing much to do with it, and in NVIDIA panel its pointed to intel GPU without the ability to change it, and that make sense for the desktop window manager.

Ill keep doing some experiments on my end, thanks a lot for the help!

The Desktop Window Manager (DWM) is used to render the Windows desktop and Wallpaper Engine interacts with it, ideally both Wallpaper Engine and dwm.exe should run on the same GPU, otherwise it may negatively affect performance, though this is mostly the case on multi-monitor systems.

Hey!

Yeah, it make sense, these things are having a weird behavior, but i wont bother you guys much with it, it may be some error in my end, ill keep doing experiment and will post the results later, so i could help someone else in the same situation. :D
