This type of behavior is almost always caused by antivirus apps blocking Wallpaper Engine by mistake, are you maybe using an antivirus app (aside from Windows Defender which comes pre-installed on Windows)? In that case, try to exclude the wallpaper_engine directory from your antivirus app and do a clean reinstallation of the app as described here:

https://help.wallpaperengine.io/en/debug/reset.html

If that does not work, please run our scan tool and share the log file it generates as outlined here:

Thanks. Could you also send us the latest mdmp files for the ui32 process? You should be able to find them here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\bin\ please send them to logs@wallpaperengine.io as well.

im not very savvy with files so i hope i sent the right one there

Thanks. That's odd, we definitely received your first email. However, it looks like we didn't receive the email with the mdmps yet.

Did you send it to logs@wallpaperengine.io as well or to another address?

i sent them both in the same email, but im not sure i sent the right mdmps. i only see 2 files that say mdmp and neither of them are files, theyre .dll files

Ah okay, but sounds like those would have been the wrong files, although you are in the right directory. Are you sure that there are no files with the .mdmp extension? They should have a long filename and start with "ui32", which is the name of the process.

nope i dont see anything like that, the only thing that i can see that says "ui32" is simply called "ui32" and its an application type.

Thanks, that's unfortunate. Could you maybe try the following:

- First close Wallpaper Engine completely by right clicking the small icon in the tray area and choosing "quit".
- Now start it over Steam again with the 3rd launch option that says "launch UI in safe mode".

If that doesn't make a difference, please try this:
- Right click the icon in the tray area and choose "Settings" does this window open perhaps?

yes the settings page opens

the other thing did not work though

Alright, then I wonder if the issue is related to the connection to Steam because the settings window does not connect to Steam.

Can you try closing Steam completely from its tray icon and after that double click the tray icon of Wallpaper Engine, which will open the wallpaper browser?

Does the browser work now or do you still have the same issue as before? If it works now it will show that it's not connected to Steam which is to be expected, so you can ignore that part.

update for whenever you get to this again, i uninstalled steam and WE and then reinstalled them both, and that didnt fix the issue either.
