Limit GPU usage
Hello everyone.

Is there a way to limit GPU used by Wallpaper Engine, or change the usage to CPU only?

I already saw this link, but it didn't solved my problem:
https://help.wallpaperengine.io/en/performance/gpu.html#finding-out-your-actual-gpu-load

Some wallpapers, consume a lot of GPU, it looks like i'm playing a game (or a would guess mining does the same), and that doesn't make much sense to me.

This is a link of GPU-Z graphics and Wallpaper Engine options and an example wallpaper option, the graph beginning is a wallpaper
https://imgur.com/a/S9Vb7P7

Specs:
Wallpaper Engine 2.0.48 - Steam Edition
Wallpaper affect by this: [R18] Dandon Fuga Batman Punchline X-Ray Animated WALLPAPER by Tyler Durden (scene wallpaper)
GPU: RX580 8GB
CPU: Ryzen 1600X
RAM: 16GB 3200Mhz

The problem is not the resources used, because i don't notice any slow down, i have pause on application maximized and fullscreen, i just notice this because the GPU fans ramp up and they're loud when reaching full speed, that's why i asked if i can change the workload to CPU only, because i have a better/quieter cooler for it.

Thanks in advance.

You cannot really limit GPU usage here, it also uses 1.5 Gigabytes of video memory for example. I would just advise to switch to another wallpaper or ask the author to optimize the wallpaper a bit. There is no need for it to perform this badly, I think they must have done something that affects performance very negatively when creating the wallpaper.

It looks like you're playing a game, because you are, scene wallpapers are rendered in real time and they are basically video games.

like a said in the original post, not all the wallpapers, not even all the scenes, do this.

@Tim
thank you for your analysis Tim.

Too bad Steam don't confirm the artists work before allowing the upload go public it's not just the performance, sometimes a find 4k wallpapers that are not real 4k. I have a 16:9 monitor so i use the wallpapers in fill alignment (don't like the zoom) and lost count the number of wallpapers subscribed only to unsubscribe a few seconds later because they have color bars on the side/top/down and some are not even animated... :steamfacepalm:

on the subject.... it would be nice to limit the GPU usage, or at least limit de FPS per wallpaper, that way i could lower the FPS (until acceptable GPU usage) on that specific wallpaper without affecting the others.

i will just unsubscribe the wallpaper, imo it's not worth the hassle to send a message to every artist that have this problem and wait for their fix, after all we don't lack wallpapers in workshop.
