[Solved] Wallpaper engine keeps on validating and not downloading.
here's screenshot

i tried everything

1) cleared steam download cache, verified integrity still stuck on validating-starting download
2) ran steamredownloadfixer32.exe , did not helped
3) uninstalled steam, made backup of the steam apps folder and repasted it after installing steam
verified integrity, steam common redist gets reinstalled but wallpaper engine opens too, after waiting a minute it loads all wallpaper,
but in steam it is still validating-starting download.

is there a way to verify the workshop files manually because in properties of wallpaper engine> local files> verify software files, i think
its only verifying 500 mb wallpaper engine files not the wallpaper workshop files

appmanifest_431960 [pastebin.com]

Next i tried using windowssandbox, installed steam, wallpaper engine, lol, it got stuck there too - validating starting download and it was not
downloading workshop item. note- my subscription is of 80 GB while windows sandbox has a size of 38 GB.

should i try and untick - keep games saves in the steam cluod for wallpaper engine.

Next i tried. moving steam apps folder (87GB) out of steam folder into my external drive. now opened steam, installed wallpaper engine - sucessfully installed,
now it got stuck again Screenshots [imgur.com]

Please help, i did all i could.

edit-

1)i unsubscribed latest 8 wallpapers that got updated after everything went haywire. reinstalled wallpaper engine.. still stuck validating-starting download.

2) i was away from my pc for about 10 days after which i came and all this started happening before that everything was fine.

Try uninstalling Wallpaper Engine via Steam. Afterwards, delete the following directories:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\downloads
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading

Make sure that all antivirus apps or similar ignore your Steam directory. Then reinstall the app again and just let it fully download. The validation may take a while if your Steam is acting up for some reason.

If all of that fails for some random reason:

Go to the Steam Workshop page and make sure you are logged in:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/431960/workshop/

Hover over "Your Files" on the right and select "Subscribed Items" and then click on "Unsubscribe All". Obviously this will remove all your subscriptions but maybe your Steam is getting blocked by some broken Workshop item. For me it's obviously hard to say why exactly Steam is locking up for you since we're not the developers of Steam, but these steps usually fix issues like that in extreme cases like yours.

is there a way to to resubscribe to all of those wallapper again ? .. it quite high in number so doing it one by one is not possible

The easiest way would be if you first create a collection and then just add everything there. Afterwards you can follow the steps above. Then do a clean reinstallation of Wallpaper Engine without any subscriptions and then try to resubscribe again:

Ok, will try to do that..
Also ...the problem i think here is ..

Wallpapers That i am subscribed to deleted by the cretor/Author...

is there a way to solve this ..because steam just deletes those wallappers from users PC but subscription is still there and it keeps increasing in number...

Edit- Is there a way you can implement about the wallpapers removed by the author, so people can unsubscribe or make a backup of them if they want..

because i was subscribed to a author and suddenly he mass deleted his every workshop item...

Wallpaper Engine supports a backup folder that you can maintain manually and Steam will not download or delete anything from there: https://help.wallpaperengine.io/steam/backup.html

But Steam does not inform Wallpaper Engine about deleted items in any way, to Wallpaper Engine it looks just like you unsubscribed them. So you will need to back them up beforehand, since it cannot happen automatically at the time they get removed by Steam.

Also if the problem comes from specific wallpapers, you could investigate Steam's Workshop log (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\workshop_log.txt) and unsubscribe them from your Steam profile. As far as we know, deleted items still show up on your Steam profile's subscription list.

so how does this work. like imagine if i wallpaper engine already running, i open steam.
steam detects a certain wallpaper was removed by author. does it instantly deletes the wallpaper from the drive or waits for me to shut down the steam because i saw this that if i unsubscribe from a wallpaper steam does not delete it until i close the application ( steam) .

so in this windows wallpaper engine can implement a feature where it will show this wallpaper got removed from wallpaper engine ui and show option to unsubsceibe from it or go it folder location. something like this?

Steam will remove deleted Workshop submissions on its own terms anytime you are not "in game" on Steam and will not notify the game about this happening.

is there a way you can implement subscription manager in wallpaper engine because steam sucks. i google and this problem and it has been here forever.

the thing where you said to add all my subsceibed items to a collection, i have total of 1200 subscription and this is not gonna work. well i found a script .. but if you can add this into wallpaper engine if steam allows it, lol they don't want to do it themselves and stopping devs to do it too.

I don't know of a good way to send feedback to the Steam developers but you can definitely contact Steam support about the validation and download issue and then also make your suggestion there.

Just make sure to select the "Steam client" on the support page and not Wallpaper Engine, otherwise it will hide all options to contact Steam support.

ok..it got fixed ... did this

" Try uninstalling Wallpaper Engine via Steam. Afterwards, delete the following directories:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\downloads
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading"

then switched to singapore server, cleared steam cache.

installed wallpaper engine after downloading had to wait 5 to 10 mins for it to initiate workshop download.
