Yes. When you are ready to publish your wallpaper to the workshop you will be able to set its visibility to either Public, Friends only, Unlisted, or Private.

So would unlisted mean I can send a link to my friends or should I just put it to friends only? Thanks for replying btw 😊

No problem. Yes, unlisted would mean that anyone who has access to the link can view and subscribe to the workshop item. Setting the wallpaper to friends only would allow anyone on your friends list to view and subscribe to the workshop item.

The options for visibility in the Wallpaper Engine Editor are Public, Friends only, and Private, but you can set it to Unlisted through the Steam workshop page if you want to after you have published it.

Just as a note, the "unlisted" functionality is not in the app, you would need to upload the wallpaper as "private" and then view it on the Steam Workshop website and set it to "Unlisted" from there.

private wallpapers are uploaded to steam servers or they are stored on the user PC?

Of course they are uploaded to steam, it's just a visibility option, not a storage option.

You don't have to publish anything, you can just use your wallpapers offline without ever sending them to Steam. The publishing of a wallpaper is also a multi-step process, you cannot accidentally share anything on Steam without your full knowledge.

Hi, is the "unlisted" option gone? Rn, jan 26, 2023, I am publishing a wallpaper I've made into my workshop but it seems like the option to make it unlisted has vanished! I can only publish it as public, private or friends only... I need some help. Thanks.
