Fences 3.10 & Wallpaper Engine

The Fences 3.10 update broke compatibility Wallpaper Engine, causing animated wallpapers to not be visible and other graphical glitches. Stardock (the developers of Fences) have released Fences 3.13 which fixes this problem.

If you are using Wallpaper Engine in combination with Fences, please update to Fences 3.13 or newer and both apps should work together without issues again:

Well Stardock lost my money. If I'm choosing between fancy organization and fancy wallpapers, I'ma choose the latter. Plenty of other methods and options for organizing my desktop.

If you have Fences 3 AND still want to use WE, consider downgrading version to 3.09 OR as a very good alternative, use Nimi Places and tell Stardock to eat crap.

Side note : I didn't have any visual issues here as WE literally just stopped working altogether until I reinstalled Fences 3.09. Planning to move my stuff over to Nimi Places becasue a company with that mentality doesn't deserve my money.

ok e1 since i've seen this update from Stardock literaly F* us like this and me, personally i love wallpaper engine and yes i wanna keep my fences too! I have to say after seen all the fixes reading all ppl trying to fix this and gotta give it to u dev hats off for trying to work things out with them hope they get to send you word and fix this but till then here is the:

*BEST TEMP Solution for it after mind boggling 1 hour testing*

1st. Open Photoshop or Any program like Windows paint should work too:
* Make a 1pixel by 1pixel *WHITE background* image and save it as .png or jpeg.
just make sure its 1x1 pixel sized. I guess you can change to whatever color matches your custom background later on or w/e.

2cd. Right click desktop Open personalize settings in windows and select image drop that 1x1 pixel image in and make sure you set it to *FIT to center*.

3. YOUR DONE. no glitching yes u'll have this stupid 1pixel image in center annoying you or you wont even see it, but this has no glitches when moving nothing changes and you see your wallpaper.Also no need to reinstall the problem is not in your computer its on their end and please try your hardest not to laugh, cos of some idiotic moves from Stardock!

I can confirm that it was the Fences update to 3.10 that causes WallpaperEngine to not work anymore.

What I did to fix it again:
1. Uninstall Fences but keep your settings (option in the setup)
2. Restart your PC
3. Download Fences 3.09 Setup and install it
4. Restart your PC

Your settings will automatically be re-applied if you kept them and you will see WallpaperEngine working again automatically after restarting your PC.

Many people reported this on the Stardocks forums too and their support replied with the same answer every time by referring to their FAQ.
There they say that Fences does not support WallpaperEngine, which was not true prior to 3.10.

They intentionally disabled the support without mentioning it in the changelogs and push their own WallpaperEngine product called "DeskScapes" in their FAQ and in their forum replies. That being said, they literally shot themselves in the knee if they think nobody notices this.


EDIT: side note for people who want to continue using Fences 3.09 but are annoyed by the update notification. You can turn these off by using the batch file they have on this site: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#disableupdate

Easy solution for me! I just deleted fences, gave them some home truths, and will find another way to organise folders

Windowsの壁紙設定で単色の黒にすると透過するようになってもとに戻った。
再起動してもいつもどおり動作したのでこれでしばらく様子見。

You can make a fully transparent image in an image editing program like photoshop or gimp(free) and use that as your wallpaper. Fences seems to be forcing the wallpaper to be in front of whatever wallpaper engine is showing.

Here's my way of solving this problem,
Right click your desktop> Personalize> Background> Solid color> Black.

Just try, may the wallpapers be with you.

It seems like they did that on purpose. Stardock want there customers to buy its software named DeskScapes. That really pissed me off. I'm not gonna support Stardock anymore if they do not fix this issue. If possible I would like WallpaperEngine developers to create fences like software that is compatible with WallpaperEngine with some amazing feature than fences.

Edit: Stackdock is working to fix this issue, so it seems. Still I think they did that on purpose, then after there customers complain about this issue, they decided to fix this issue soon. This is my opinion though.
