Wallpaper Engine

Statistiken ansehen:
High GPU usage DWM and Client server runtime process
HI guys!!! Actually I've wallpaper engine for quite some time however recently i've decided to reset my msi gl63 8rd laptop cause its acting really weird due to performance related issues and prior to that wallpaper engine seems working perfectly fine i've connected an external monitor to this laptop and both laptop and that monitor works no issue at all i remember i set wallpaper engine to my 1050ti but now after resetted, i've also changed to 1050ti but its still pretty high and not to mention the dwm and client server runtime process also increase simultaneously however they are using my intel uhd 630 (previously never happened before) tho so im confused as to what was the cause of it and how i can remedy that i know in the faq u guys did mention but i don't quite understand so please help me out. Besides, the dwm and client server runtime process will still be high unless i close the wallpaper engine then everything went down to less than 10% so im assuming there has something to do with wallpaper engine

Hey, apologies for the late reply. I saw you also sent in an email with the log file but let me just get back to you here. The issue you describe is always rooted in issues with the graphics card setup, Wallpaper Engine itself cannot be the root cause for this. Since you read the FAQ, you seem to already be aware of what's roughly going wrong, essentially, Wallpaper Engine is being rendered across multiple screens through your Intel and Nvidia GPU.

It's weird that you say this wasn't an issue before, did you maybe only connect the secondary screen after reinstalling Windows? Looking at the log file, the problem is that your notebook screen is being handled by your Intel card, while the external screen is technically "plugged into" your Nvidia card. Usually this type of thing is hard-wired in the notebook itself, which is why this is unlikely to not have been an issue before.

Things you can try:

  • Reinstall both your Nvidia and Intel drivers. Uninstall the current drivers first, then reinstall the drivers from scratch and restart your computer.
  • Configure Wallpaper Engine to run on your Intel or Nvidia GPU and see if the issue goes away or becomes better, don't forget to restart Wallpaper Engine for changes to take effect.
  • Unplug your external screen and see if the performance is greatly improved now, DWM usage should largely drop (though maybe only if you run Wallpaper Engine on your Intel GPU).
  • Use a "Web" type wallpaper on one of your screens. Since web wallpapers run on webwallpaper32.exe, you can assign the respective GPU to it that is needed on the specific screen (notebook screen: Intel, external screen: Nvidia), this can help in some crazy edge cases.

I know this is old, but turning off hardware accelerated GPU usage in the graphic settings fixed it for me (Windows 11)
