Wallpaper engine using 100% CPU??????
Ever since about a month ago every time I leave this on I can hear my PC fan ramping up. Then I look at my system processes and see that it's pegging my CPU at 100%?!!!? If I kill the wallpaperengine process the CPU goes back down to 4%. It didn't use to do this prior to a month ago. I have an i7 with 16 gigs of RAM and a 2060 TI.

Hey, please run our scan tool and share the log file it generates as described here while you are experiencing 100% CPU usage:

I've had familirial issues after windows 10 decided to update itself, but in my case the usage would go to 100 and stay like that even if I pause the wallpaper, but after restarting my pc the usage would go to normal. And this usage spike doesn't happen every time. Did you happen to update windows recently, maybe that's the cause?

I think it must have been an update that it did in Windows 10 without me knowing because since the day I wrote this post and went to get the log for the dev it hasn't pinned it to 100% anymore. The odd thing is it was doing over a long span of weeks and I know I've rebooted the machine since. Maybe it was cached or something.. not sure. If I see it again I'll update here.

You may have your hardware acceleration turned off in wallpaper engine settings, it still sounds like a glitch, but maybe that will help.

Another option is to try it with hardware acceleration turned on/off in windows settings. Your windows was recently updated making me think the setting may have been on before.

Still.. shouldn't be 100%. What's your clock speed during the glitch? Perhaps your cpu is reverting to idle clock speed? I dunno

Where do you see an option in wallpaper engine settings to turn off hardware acceleration???

Could you run our scan tool and share the log file as described there please? The advice from the other users is likely not correct and I'd like to have a look at some technical details.

So far all other users who have reported this issue were using Razer Synapse, so we're thinking this might be the cause. Could you go to the following URL and copy paste the contents here? That would help us greatly with investigating this:

For more information, my wallpaper engine use high cpu usage if it open with start up of windows. I have to close it and reopen one time then it comeback to normal

Thank you, we think this is a bug that happens with the latest Razer Synapse update when it's not installed correctly. Can you try and see if the problem goes away if you do this:

1. Turn off Wallpaper Engine completely (right-click on the Wallpaper Engine icon -> Quit)
2. Uninstall Razer Synapse and all Razer Software
3. Reinstall Razer Synapse and Chroma Connect
4. Restart your computer

If any of you could test this and report back, that would be very helpful.

I am having a similar issue, I am getting 100% cpu usage readings and my wallpaper im using gets extremely laggy. I know for sure though that I don't have any razer products, here are my results after running the debug tool. https://pastebin.com/ZCxWTP9L

If you guys using nvidia laptops, make sure to assign wallpaper engine to nvidia in nvidia control panel. By default it uses integrated graphics.

Dev, i'd suggest to work with nvidia to make a preset in the upcoming drivers to list wallpaper engine to use Nvidia graphic card per default instead of integrated

Hold on, wait... This thread is 3 years old. Uh....
