Anyone know how to save the finished product as a gif?
I want to save the wallpaper as a gif when I'm done for my artwork showcase but I can't find it anywhere in the files. Is there not such a thing or am I dumb?

Not as far as I know, I have always used external tools to record the wallpaper ( to either .APNG or .GIF )

What tools do you use for this?

In my case I used my Media player ( PotPlayer ), which has integrated screen capture/recording software. but I think VLC for example also has screen recording tools, I think.

Then you can record either straight to .GIF, or first record to a video format - edit it - and then convert the video capture to .GIF

What would I use to convert it to a .gif?

If you have streaming software like OBS, you can also use that to record (parts of) your screen. And save it to a local file.

https://ezgif.com/video-to-gif
https://ezgif.com/video-to-apng

Example of an online tool for conversion

NOTE: apng is also supported by steam, this has way higher quality compared to the very old .GIF standard. If you want to create the 'preview' image of your wallpaper, I'd suggest you use .APNG (animated png)

If you right click the wallpaper in the browser and choose 'play in window' you can record it directly with OBS. I basically added that feature for streaming/recording.

While I've got you here, is it possible to add music to a scene wallpaper?

Not right now, but I'm trying to add that in the next patch.

When do you plan to have that out by? If that isn't too much to ask...

I don't know for sure, probably a bit over a month. I haven't started implementing this yet, because MP3 support is still tricky and I think many will want to use that. At least the licenses/patents for MP3 itself have been terminated and I found a suitable library, but I never worked with it before so it's uncertain how well it'll work for me.
