Wallpaper not changing.

I bought wallpaper engine today and I'm running into the issue of where my wallpaper won't change. It is still a regular destiny wallpaper I had but when I try to switch it to anything on engine it doesn't change. Wallpapers will audio play but the image doesn't change. When I exit out of wallpaper engine it I can switch it between regular wallpapers (my case a slideshow) but when I turn wallpaper engine back on it returns to the destiny wallpaper. Any ideas on how to fix.

No, I'm on windows 7 and I don't think I have ever fences installed.

Is any other software installed that modifies the desktop in any way?

If you can't think of anything, can you run Wallpaper Engine and then the .bat file from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o2jth39bcvvej57/ListDlls.zip?dl=0 It should create an out.txt file. Can you open that file and paste it on www.pastebin.com and then share the link here?

https://pastebin.com/3TkWN8Rf I only had one program game companion that changes my monitor's colors and then Nvidia control panel.


Also, I restarted my pc and it started to work again but then later all my icons got hidden behind the wallpaper so I restarted the program and the wallpaper now won't change again but the audio will start.

While you are getting the problem that the wallpaper won't show up, can you try closing it completely over the tray and then running wallpaper32.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\wallpaper32.exe) as administrator? Normally admin isn't necessary, but I wonder if this is making a difference.

Also, could you repeat the last process with the .bat etc but with this download please: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b9x2ah2gvp7wvse/ListDllsExplorer.zip?dl=0

It doesn't look like anything is running that I know could cause this issue at least.

Thanks. Could you try disabling the sandbox feature in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or whitelist the program there? At least someone did have this happen before because it got sandboxed (so it wasn't allowed to attach the wallpaper), so I think it is worth a try.

Also do you have DWM/Aero fully enabled at all?

I have aero enabled but I don't know what DWM is, and I white listed the folder of wallpaper engine.

Okay then I'm kinda stumped to be honest.

Can you try this: If you change the Windows wallpaper normally, does it show a fade effect, i.e. does it smoothly blend between the wallpapers? Also, does disabling the slideshow make a difference?

So it does do the fade effect correctly. Changing between slideshow wallpapers or single wallpapers had no effect after a while.

Could this be a glitch from alt-tabbing from games, Does it depend if the resoultion doesn't match ur desktops native,
Also at i had the cracked version of wallpaper engine to test it out and decided to buy the full program since i enjoyed it and it worked. Does that have anything to do with it maybe.

If the cracked version worked then there is no reason the full one shouldn't - the basic system hasn't changed since the first day it was on Steam. But naturally I don't know what has been changed in the cracked versions and what they do. They could easily break things (accidentally?) to prevent the Steam one from working...

I would say you should purge everything, delete the wallpaper_engine folder and then reinstall it and run it through Steam once after installing again.

The resolution and alt-tabbing don't affect this. The wallpaper not changing means that the program is being hindered by something to run properly (but at this point you have tried all the things I know cause this).

i know this is out of nowhere but I had the exact same issue and the only thing that fixed it for me was changing my regular desktop background through windows and it was immediately fixed
