Wallpaper Engine Loop Lag
Hello, I made a video in Premiere and it looks totally perfect when I set the video to loop in playback. But in VLC and Wallpaper Engine, right when the video is about to start over to loop it pauses for like half of a second and screws up the audio timing and the video timing. The loop should match up with the exact frame it left off on and audio should sound perfectly normal without clipping. Is there any way to fix this? I tried using WebM but it just did the same thing.

Made a youtube vid of the comparison. It may look like theres no big deal but in my wallpaper I just want it to look flawless, as it already should according to premiere pro.

On some systems there may be stutters with certain video files, I know you have said you tried using WebM but try all the steps from here as well:

Other than that, try setting the "Video loading" option in the Wallpaper Engine settings to "in-memory" and try to reduce the encoding quality of the video slightly as your computer may struggle if the file is very large, for example.

After installing LAV, enabling hardware acceleration, enabling settings in Wallpaper engine, this still doesn't work. Idk what I'll do, don't know why it's so hard to program a video player that loops as soon as the video is done.. Works literally PERFECTLY in premiere.

this is OUTRAGEOUS. LEARN TO CODE...unusable currently.

Thanks Dusty.

First of all, it's not a "learn to code" matter because video playback is largely handled by the operating system and the graphics card drivers, no need to be rude. That said, please run our scan tool and share the log file as described here, maybe there is something odd about your system that I can spot:

Sorry for that. But I'm pretty sure there isn't anything wrong with my computer. Here's the pastebin: https://pastebin.com/5nf8eZ2E | 5nf8eZ2E if the link is blocked.

Thanks and no, there is certainly nothing wrong with your computer, this loop hiccup is well known and a core issue in the Windows video system - which is why we added this elaborate WebM + LAV solution since this is currently the best legal option for us. The log just helps us to see better what's going on.

It looks like the options are set correctly and LAV seems to be fully installed, but we can't see yet if LAV is really being activated as expected. But how about this, if you load a WebM video, does the 'LAV splitter' icon show up in the tray menu? By default it shows an icon (can be disabled though if it's a bother).

Also would you be able to share your WebM file via www.gofile.io or anything else so we can check it out ourselves and see if it's reproducible?

Had to enable the system tray option in the config settings. The WebM is in 4k, 60fps. It's a 800MB file and I don't have the best internet. But I guarantee you, if this were properly looped the video and especially audio wouldn't have any issue. Hardware accelleration is enabled on both Wallpaper Engine and LAV. Do you want sceeenshots of both settings?

Thanks, I can see the Wallpaper Engine settings from the log and I think they are correct. You could share a screenshot of the LAV video settings, but all I could do is compare them with mine.

What about this video? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869401358 This is also a WebM but it's lighter on the specifications.

With WebM still set to 'native' but video framework set to 'media foundation' this has a notable loop hiccup while with video framework set to 'LAV' it loops almost flawlessy. Are you able to reproduce this or do you also have a bad loop there?

The wallpaper that you put has no sound, it does look like it loops good but so does mine. After trying my current settings with an mp4 (using LAV) the problem still happens :/ Here's a screenshot of my LAV Settings https://gyazo.com/13870f6bbaab5d1b93a91edbc3658ef8

So only the audio is the issue, not the video itself? I don't have a file to test that handy.

The settings are similar to mine/using your settings makes no difference. But if the issue is mostly with the audio then perhaps this solution doesn't change anything, we haven't tested it with any audio streams.

I am actually confused by this sentence, what do you mean by "it loops good but so does mine", I thought yours does not loop well?!

Either way, try reducing / changing the encoding of your video (the actual codec not just the container format), try to reduce the Bitrate significantly and see if it becomes better for testing purposes. The fact that the video is 800 MB in combination with whatever video encoding settings you are using may just be too much for a perfect loop for some reason.

No it does it with all videos. The audio itself is just cut off. My video looks fine becasue there's a bunch of cuts that goes to different scenes as it is.

We have been talking about the video feed this whole time, so there was a misunderstanding.

Like we explained, there is no simple legal solution right now to fix the players we're allowed to use. But LAV also has 'audio' settings - maybe there is a chance any of those could help prioritize audio?

Also, we have been meaning to allow importing audio to videos separately to allow for smaller video file sizes when people want to put lengthy audio into the video and just keep looping the video in the file. We have no progress on this yet, but this would be based on the same system currently providing audio for scenes and I think that system allows for better looping.
