Live Stream
Is there anyway to put a live stream as the background. I would love to have a live stream of the ISS.

Hey,
Do you have any examples for those live streams? In theory you can browse to an arbitrary URL in the browse window by clicking 'Open from URL', but it seems that most live streams will require codecs or plugins that are not supported by the browser, so I couldn't find any that worked out.

Cheers

Ustream and Twitch feeds would be my first guesses. How are web pages handled? Could they play back "html5 video" via their browser?

HTML 5 video works as long as it doesn't use the H.264 codec, which seems to required for youtube live streams. Ustream uses flash, which also doesn't work, Twitch I haven't tried yet.

Flash should work in theory after installing the global PPAPI plugin from Adobe, but for some reason I cannot get it to work. Some flash or Chromium update might have broken it, so hopefully it will work again at some point in the future.

I would love this! Hope this becomes a feature at some point. :-)
Hi,
sorry for replying so late i only just realized you commented back, been busy with reports.
The plan was to use the NASA livestream which they have on both Youtube and their own site.

Again sorry for not replying.
Thanks

Flash streams do work now after installing the global PPAPI plugin from Adobe. Youtube streams are all HTML5 based only though, they will probably never work due to the codec licenses.

You could try to make an application to open such livestream. I think it would be possible with some work in Unity. I'll take a look and respond here.
Aweosme thanks guys i'll see if i can find a flash stream somewhere !

Hey, so after reading a lot of different things on this forum and elsewhere, I have the ISS up and running on both of my monitors (different streams). You need to download PPAPI as mentioned in this thread, however, it doesn't work with html5. I changed html5 to wpm in the ustream URLs ( http://www.ustream.tv/embed/9408562?wpmui?v=3&controls=false&autoplay=true&volume=0 & http://www.ustream.tv/embed/17074538?wpmui?v=3&controls=false&autoplay=true&volume=0), and it works fine for me.
