You could've set that picture as your background via Windows and it would still do that, nothing to do with software. It's likely because that wallpaper is very saturated and not animated. Use screensavers, turn down your screen brightness and contrast a little

is your screen older?
old screens can get such errors if a pic isnt moving for a longer time
thats why you should use screensavers

still its no the fault of the programm
infact the programm could have protected your screen if you would have used a video wallpaper :D

But what I think is weird here, is that the Icon's on your desktop should be engraved as well then.... they are also permanently at the same spot....

If you try to move the Google Chrome icon to a different spot, do you also still see the chrome logo engraved in the screen?

if so, not much we can do about it....
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Looks more stuck than "killed".
Try running this on fullscreen on the second monitor for 10 minutes.
DON'T LOOK DIRECTLY AT IT, SEIZURE WARNING

You will see the combined monitor, then just right click and "auto split". It works with bezel too as long as your bezel isn't different between your monitors.

You can also change the splits manually.

i thought that was only possible with very old or plasma screens, or is that possible with led or lcd screens too?

post is extremely old it was a oled screen that burned in i got it replaced. can happen to any monitor and isnt a wallpaper engine problem itself

This post is extremely old indeed. I just want to clarify anyway. This is not a Wallpaper Engine issue, it's an issue of showing a single static image on your screen for a long time. Wallpaper Engine actually helps to reduce burn-ins because static Windows wallpapers will always create much stronger burn-ins and image persistence than animated wallpapers, so using Wallpaper Engine is always better than not to use it.

First, you need to know what type of screen you have. Most LCD display will not have permanent image burn-ins, they will have temporary image persistence. This means the burned-in image will disappear again after a while if you just have other stuff on your screen:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_persistence

Old plasma and very old first-gen LCD screens will have actual image burn-ins, the same applies to modern OLED screens. This means the screen will permanently show a ghost image after it has been bruned in by showing an image for a very long time:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_burn-in

Modern OLED screens can experience burn-ins but it would take a very long time for this to happen. Most modern screens also have methods to prevent burn-ins, so it is not a huge problem anymore these days if your screen is relatively new (roughly 2018 and newer).

If you use a plasma or very old LCD screen (very unlikely but possible) or if you use an OLED screen, we recommend using the screensaver functionality or the playlist functionality of the app (which did not exist in 2017 when this post was initially made). Try to use wallpapers that have a lot of motion in it (for example a video-based wallpaper with a lot of movement). Take a look at this page to learn how to set up a screensaver:

https://help.wallpaperengine.io/functionality/screensaver.html

I myself use an OLED screen and I have never had any problems with burn-ins and I am not paying too much attention to this issue. Just make sure your screen does not show the same image all day or even across multiple days without being turned off. If you want to make extra sure your screen will be fine, use a playlist and / or screensaver with Wallpaper Engine.
