Purge Old Wallpapers?
Is there a method to purge / delete old wallpapers that are no longer used?

If you manually delete them then Wallpaper Engine lists "ERROR" in the list of wallpapers.

On disk they use numbers, not names, so it's quite a massive chore to find which are being used and which are no longer being used.

Steam will delete them after you unsubscribed and are not in-app, but it might take a few minutes or even a restart when the servers don't respond timely. The 'error' text means there is a Steam issue, possibly because you deleted them manually (?), Steam can't handle that well and will break.

Unfortunately it doesn't delete them. I have nearly 500 folders of old un-subscribed wallpapers. This is why I manually deleted them (I've since restored them).

This has persisted between system restarts for quite some time.

The only thing I can think of trying is resetting the download cache in the Steam download options.

I don't know how to fix your problem but about "On disk they use numbers" this i believe i can help. Every wallpaper use a thumbnail jpg file so only think you need searching ".jpg" in folder.
Then you can select from thumbnails. But i always unsubscribed and it worked like charm. Maybe you have a problem about your internet that block steam to do something? Just guessing

Thanks you two. I'll check into these options. edit: and no networking issues. all ports are open etc. It's my gaming PC so I must ensure that it runs as smoothly as possible.

This seemed to do the trick. Now all of the folders remain but the vast majority of them are empty of any files.

Thanks. o/
