Do i have to keep the program running?
Like, does it always have to be on and will i always be shown as " in-application Wallpaper Engine"? or can i use it without steam opened and without me being shown in application..

Wallpaper engine has to be running for the wallpaper to display.

Steam doesn't have to be running for wallpaper engine to run.

Wallpaper engine will always be minimized to the system tray while running unless you actually open it. You are only shown as in-app if you actually have wallpaper engine open (eg changing your wallpaper, making a wallpaper, browsing wallpapers).
