Updating 8+ GB
So I notice when I hover my house cursor over the steam icon it says downloading update for Wallpaper Engine, but NOTHING appears in steam downloads.

But when I right click on Wallpaper Engine, go manage downloads I can see it's downloaded 8gb of data and is continuing to download more.

I check the Wallpaper app, nothing downloading in it.

Very peculiar.

That happened to me, all my workshop downloads need to be redownloaded. Interrupting that has caused some issues, too.

There was no update like you said, this is a just a frequent Steam bug. Valve already knows about this and every game with Workshop can have this problem since they have created Workshop on Steam. They just never fixed it.
I cleared my steam cache
Restarted my PC
Deleted all the wallpaper engine content from D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content

Now when the wallpapers download, when they reach 100% they show 'Error'

:/

Steam can't handle it when you do that, it thinks the files are still there. The red 'error' in WE means that Steam tells my program you got the files, but they are actually missing on the drive.

Try validating the app files on Steam by right clicking the app and then local files -> validate. This also validates Workshop files. But with 8GB it will take a while and Steam does not even show you the progress of the Workshop validation. It will complete quickly but actually continue in the background for a long time, at least the last time I tried it and I only have about 500 wallpapers subbed.

If you constantly have this issue with Steam, you can also copy the files out of that Workshop directory and drag and drop them into the browser from your own folder somewhere, then unsub them in Steam.
I uninstalled Wallpaper Engine, cleared cache etc. I then downloaded it again, seems I will download about 15gb of Workshop files and I will see if that fixes it.

If not, I will try as you said, luckily I backed up all the wallpapers to an external drive just in case issues continue :o
Ok, so the Wallpapers are downloading succesfully and working once downloaded.

Just means it will take me a lil while to download them all again, but eh... 500gb per month quota and I am going to read a book while they do their thing :desu:
