Grey Border
Hi there, after a recent update a couple of wallpapers have developed a small coloured border on the desktop. I noticed a thread referring to a black border and resetting my nvidia but this did not reslove the issue. I can hide it buy going into each one affected, setting the colour scheme to black and the alignment to centre. Is this possibly down to my native display being 1360x768 and the desktops down scaling?

Are you referring to the last update (a few days ago) or a previous one? Because the last update didn't change anything related to alignment from what I can remember.

Can you share a screenshot of what you are seeing exactly?

The resolution of your desktop really shouldn't matter though.

Yes, the most recent update, although it did seem to want to keep updating the past few days every time I launched it. The following link is examples from a few screenshots for reference.

Manyt thanks for swift reply.

Can you run this and tell me if it shows any errors? C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\installer.exe

If the update doesn't fully apply because the program is partially blocked then that should probably be looked at. But yeah, afaik those two are scene type wallpapers, nothing related was changed in the last update. Perhaps you skipped some updates though? Also, can you share a link to both of them? I can't find them easily with Steam's search.

Hi again

No problems, installed sucessfully. Not aware of any updates being skipped as it regularly shows up on steam autodownload. I did have a problem a few days back where it was constantly prompting about an update being available even after applying followed by an error connecting to steam but that was my fault fror running the installation without steam in the background.

I've scrolled through others and these 2 seem to be the only ones affected, tried unsubscribing and reapplying.

Not major as applying a black profile and setting alignment to centre masks it, the grey is the colour of my windows theme.

Thanks again for getting back and apologies for posting in the wrong section of the community.

I love this app, ran in conjunction with a couple of tiny freeware programs that auto hide desktop icons and the mouse pointer after a period of inactivity it now acts like a screen saver.

Happy Holidays

Thanks. I looked at those and tried to reproduce it by emulating a resolution of 1360 x 768 but had no success yet.

Did you perhaps change anything special in the settings of WE? Does it help if you use the reset button at the very bottom of the general settings? That will revert all of the settings though including playlists, so only use that if that is okay for you.

Which graphics card do you have exactly? Can you try reinstalling the driver and check 'reset all settings' there too? I imagine this could be caused by some Nvidia graphics overrides like FXAA as well.

Thank you,

Settings/General/Reset fixed the issue instantly! How did I miss that button lol.

Previously I had only clicked reset in the wallpaper properties tab. My gfx is a 750Ti and whilst it did push a driver update recenty I had already reset all settings there prior to this post.

Perhaps the offline update cycle corrupted something, no matter a simple click and it's resolved.

Thanks once again.
