Are you using Windows 10 or a different version?

Windows 10 pro, running the Creators Update

Hm okay, I have the same OS + the Fall Update (build 16299.19, not the insider preview) and the transparency is enabled right now. I presume you mean the option "transparency effects" in Settings - Personalization - Colors?

It doesn't work, the taskbar remains black :/

And you only have that problem when Wallpaper Engine is running? Are you using any other software that might modify something? I used https://github.com/TranslucentTB/TranslucentTB before to add more options to it like blur and it also worked without problem though (now I don't use it anymore).

Did you enable the change windows color option? It changes the accent color settings if enabled, nothing about the task bar itself though.

If it still doesn't work, you could probably use this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ7SmM6TtOM
