Wallpapers very dark on Wallpaper Engine

Many of the wallpapers i find appear very dark when i set them as my wallpaper. however the wallpapers look normal on my friends computer and in the example on the steam workshop.

i have spent some time looking for other forums but only found one which was solved by changing the graphics card settings. however i do not know which settings i should change.

If this happens to video wallpapers then it's most likely an issue with the driver settings, yes. Which graphics cards do you have? You need to reset the video options there. Most of the time this is caused by Intel GPUs.

i have an integrated intel and a gtx 950m. thanks for helping btw

it is the integrated intel gpu that is being used, however i have never changed any of the settings
