Taskbar won't auto hide if wallpaper engine is enabled.
Basically title.

Is there already a fix for this?

The Windows Taskbar autohides for me (I'm using Windows 10) when I have it set to do so via Windows and from the Taskbar Settings I have "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode".

If for some reason it's not working, perhaps try Iconoid. It's a nice little free utility that you can have automatically hide the desktop icons, the taskbar and mouse-pointer (you can set it to autohide those items after a few seconds of inactivity on the desktop).
I use it and it seems to work good with Wallpaper Engine.
