It uninstalled itself?

Logged on my computer today and mysteriously did not have any backgrounds.

checked steam and it says it isnt installed.

checked the install directory and it was indeed missing!

Very strange....

There is no uninstall code on my end so I also have no idea, it's strange yeah.

Virus scan would be a good think to run about now, considering, like our boi said above, he added NO uninstall code.

It's a problem on steam side I think, I had a power failure and later I saw that WE was uninstalled, it happened again because I force quit steam via task manager (testing)

If steam gets force closed and the next time you login it asks for your username and password even though you have checked Remember Me, then this happens and also library shared by your friends will be lost. Typical steam.

This is true, i forced my pc to shutdown yesterday by holding the power button, and when i turned it on today everything was gone, and the games i've shared from my other steam ac was also gone...wtf?

Sorry for posting in an old tread, but i had the same happen, after turning off the pc without shutting down windows, is there any way to prevent all our files from getting deleted, in the event of a system crash or power outage? Cause that makes no sense.

Same thing keeps happening to this day. Anytime my computer crashes for unrelated reasons, Wallpaper Engine opens but is "uninstalled" according to Steam. All of the wallpapers then have to get redownloaded and the customizations have been reset. What gives?

- You can continue to run Wallpaper Engine directly, without Steam, since it's still installed anyway.
- You can use our Steam fixing tool to make Steam stop re-downloading: https://help.wallpaperengine.io/en/steam/redownload.html

Steam can't handle that your computer crashes regularly and we are not the developers of Steam, so we cannot do anything about Steam's problems. When a computer crashes, any files currently being written/modified will get messed up and that's the reason you have this problem.

Thanks for the tips! I know it's not Wallpaper Engine's fault, and I greatly appreciate the feedback and tools that WE offers. I will try the above steps and see if I can prevent it in the future. My data limits can't take it!
