No scaling
Is there a way to have the wallpaper auto scale to a different resolution. Work PC uses 1680x1050 (dell monitor), but a large portion of the video wallpapers are 1920x1080 and don't work at the lower res. Any ideas, other than getting a new monitor (not a chance)
-Thanks

With that resolution it would crop a bit of the video from either side to make it fit. You can also stretch the video or center it with the options on the right side.

Wallpaper engine won't play the video if it's not the exact resolution of current desktop rez.
ie. 1920x1080 shows as a black screen on 1680x1050
I normally use Stardock's solution Deskscapes, and it scales perfectly, I was hoping Wallpaper Engine would be superior to the 10 year old deskscape in that regard.

Wallpaper Engine uses 'Media Foundation' for mp4 videos, which is part of Windows and a bit different on each version of Windows. I haven't heard about anyone telling me of such a problem yet, a black screen is usually caused by something else.

Can you send me a link here of a wallpaper that is working and one that isn't?

Which graphics cards are installed/enabled on the PC?

Thanks for replying guys, I'll provide the details when I'm back at work on the pc. I tried about 2 dozen videos, and only videos smaller than the current screen rez will play. 1920x1080 videos will not play.

Maybe your rig is having trouble decoding 1080p videos? Idk

I tried Stardock's Deskscapes and it works fine, but Wallpaper engine, not so much.
Deskcapes scales video wallpaper from 1920x1080 down to the laptop's native rez. I'll remove Deskscape and re-install Wallpaper engine and give it another shot. The 2 systems were not installed at the same time, just incase that question is asked.

Are you sure that it's not related to some other property of the codec used in the videos? What if you play the affected files in WMP (not any other player), they are downloaded here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\431960

Are any codec packs installed? Which graphics cards does the PC use?

If it's an hardware acceleration issue, you may get it to work by disabling "video hardware acceleration" in the options.
