Making a Video Wallpaper yourself - Whats important?
Hi,

ive seen your "Tutorials" on how to make a Video Wallpaper, but they are pretty basic and dont explain really how it works. So my Questions

- How long can or should a Video iam using be?
- Can i just get a longer Video and cut it within the Wallpaper engine Software?
- Should it be recorded at 30 FPS? Or is it fine when its 60 FPS?
- Do i get a Problem with someones Copyright when i record a Gameplay Scene from one of my favourite Games and uploaded to the Workshop?

Thx in Advance

It depends on the type of video you plan to make into a wallpaper.

Try to keep file as size as small as you're able to (ideally I'd suggest under 500 MB, but depending on the video at least under 1 GB. And depending on the video, like maybe if it's just a short scene that would loop well if you edit it properly, it might only be only 20 MB or less). Compressing your video with a utility like www.Handbrake.fr can help reduce a video's file size while still maintaining good quality.

If your video doesn't have much action or slower (or no) panning or has mainly slower moving motions, then 30 fps might be fine. However for better quality, and if there is faster motions or quicker camera panning then I'd suggest to go with 60 fps.

If it's just gameplay footage, something like you might see on YouTube from a let's-play, and you're not charging money for it, then you'll probably be fine to use it. Of course use common sense (for example; you don't want to be uploading a movie). And I'd suggest to give credit where credit is due.

Depending on what you want to do, but shorter videos mean smaller file size.

Just make sure the video is a good quality with a resolution most people use(1080p).
Also too much going on in the video can result in people getting annoyed by it.

Think twice when upload specific content. For example movies are copyrighted and can result in a takedown notice. For example the zombie wallpapers you might see in the workshop are being taken down frequently.

Thank you for the quick answers.

Well my plan was to record a cool Location from Dying Light and make it a Background, i hope that will be okay.
