It could depend on some other factors though; the wallpapers you're viewing, as some are rendered in different resolutions.
So, for example, some video-based wallpapers might be rendered in 720P or some might be in 1080P and some might even be higher or lower than those.
You model of graphic card, the drivers and the settings (you can adjust a profile settings in your graphic-card's control panel).
The Wallpaper Engine Quality settings; you could try setting to a High settings and also ensure "Full" resolution is selection. On the Advanced tab you could also try choosing for "DirectX 11" if your graphic card allows for it.
