If the GPU temperature is below 90 Celsius (some are rated to safely go higher even), then it's probably fine. On average most GPUs may run from 65C to 85C under load.
Well... true. When I had stationary PC and I had GeForce, I used everything freely on it, but now, having laptop with dedicated GeForce, I'm treating it like an egg, so maybe I should change my point of view with laptop usage.

For 3D and web wallpapers you could also reduce the FPS setting (to 30, 20 or so), it has the biggest impact on how much performance Wallpaper Engine needs.
