Either way though it seems that Steam is not completing the operation and not even triggering an error. How long did you wait? Does it time out after a while and show an error message?
Iirc the process isn't cancellable at that point, so I hope Steam does at least time out eventually...
Do you mean on the Workshop website or inside the app when you click on file - open - delete?
I can just make some guesses, but have you imported any files that were read-only? I think deletion would fail then, not sure if it would affect Steam though.
Yeah it's frustrating when some stuff doesn't work that you don't have much control over, i think I could make an endless list at this point. If it's an error I made I could at least fix it.
Very few users (well, two so far) actually had the entire app just freeze dead when initializing Steamworks. Unlikely that it's something on my end since it's just one line of code and everything else is happening in Steam + Steamworks libraries.
But back to your issue, yes, 10 minutes should be long enough. Could you upload the files somewhere? They should be in wallpaper_engine/projects/myprojects . I could try if I could repro it with them or if there is anything strange going on. Subscribing to Workshop wallpapers and using those works fine for you though?
You can delete those. The only potential problem is, that it becomes difficult to update them again, since the project is gone. It's still possible but it requires messing with the project a bit and entering the old ID of the upload.
Are there any files copied to this place while you try to upoad or is this directory empty: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\projects\temp\publish ?
This error can happen if there are no files, because Steam cannot create an empty item. But in your case Steam is causing this problem, not Wallpaper Engine. Did you try to create a new simple wallpaper and upload that or did you only retry the same? If you didn't try creating a new one yet, can you please do?
Steam also shows a few Wallpaper Engine items on your account, maybe you have to delete them first. Also, can you paste the whole path here where you installed Wallpaper Engine to? Maybe there are some characters that could cause issues, although I'm not aware of any yet.
