Issue - can't click on any desktop icons
title. It feels like there is a "invisible overlay". If I double click a folder, for example - nothing will hapen (it wont even select - "turn blue" when clicked). If I turn WE off - the folder will open by itself, as if my double click was registered, but wasn't getting through the overlay. I use "auto hide icons", but disabling it doesnt fix the issue, so I don't think thats the problem.

With which wallpaper? Even with videos/scene ones?

I have only tried 2 wallpapers with this bug, and both of them made this bug. Both are video wallpapers.

I just changed plexus (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=884494327) which was running on my secondary monitor to something else and it stopped doing that. It seems that when wallpaper engine stops it due to having a fullscreen window on top of it, it screwes up my main monitor desktop as well.

If you are using a video and pause it by right clicking the tray icon and clicking pause, does this issue occur as well? Which version of Windows are you using?

What exactly is 'auto hide icons' btw, is that another software?

Pausing (while using plexus wallpaper on the other screen) did bot fix the problem. I'm running windows 10 1703. Auto hide icons is a little tool that automatically toggles "show desktop icons" so your desktop is nice and tidy when you are not doing anything with it.

Could you disable that tool and restart the PC just to make sure? I tried it myself and did not have the issue though so it's probably unrelated.

From what you are describing it seems that something is connecting the input of the wallpaper and the icons which is wrong and not what Windows does by default. Do you have any programs installed that hook into others? Can you try to disable any extras from your graphics driver like shadowplay/relive etc since all of those are hooks also messing with input processing?

Windows GameDVR might also be related in case you still have it enabled.

I have done that already (disabling auto hide and rebooting). I don't have anything that hooks into other programs. I always disable relive after I'm done gaming, so it's not an issue. GameDVR is not running. From what I can see, I think you have missed my 2nd comment (3rd comment overall), since this issue only happens with Plexus wallpaper (though I'm sorry if you have read that comment, but I'm pointing it out just to be sure).

Hm yeah sorry - the link didn't work (because Valve's forum software is kinda bad at extracting links) and the plexus wallpapers I have seen were all videos, so I presumed it was a video: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=431960&searchtext=plexus&childpublishedfileid=0&browsesort=textsearch&section=home but the one you were talking about was actually an application instead.

Could you please try the stock 'sheep' wallpaper and see if the same issue happens?
Prezidentas Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:27pm
Actually, it doesnt happen with sheep.

Then I believe the plexus application might be hooking the mouse or similar, which could cause such a lock when pausing. Sorry for the back and forth, I think this can only be solved by the creator right now though.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it has to do something with w10 and its updates (unless it was broken with a WE update, who knows).
