Wallpaper Engine needs to enable Aero in order to work?
I have a custom dark theme for windows and it worked fine with wallpaper engine but now it forces me to use Aero for it to work is this the cause of an update? I'm really confused.

I just realized if wallpaper engine is on I can change my windows theme and wallpaper engine works fine?

It needs desktop composition to be enabled, not Aero effects specifically. This wasn't changed in any update though. If you can enable desktop composition without Aero through the custom theme that's fine too.
