Is this rly still my fault? Using a new Xperia 1 Mark 3 (don't think it matters as it used to be able to pair in the past).

Do you know if anything changed network-wise if it worked before?

Is the issue that your PC does not show up in the app at all or that it shows up, but you're unable to connect to it? If it doesn't show up at all, the latest app update added the ability to manually connect to a PC by entering its IP, so this might be worth a try in that case.

Solved:

I Clear Known Computers; nothing happened

But when I clicked [Connect to Mobile] on Desktop, my Desktop shows up on the android.

Able to connect.

I am now using Samsung S22 Ultra and cannot pair with Wallpaper Engine via companion app. Tried removing known computers, etc. Even disabled firewall and vpn on both ends as well.

Even Sony Xperia 1 Mark 3 is unable to pair to original computer. No changes have been made to network.

The computer will only allow known devices to connect, if you want to connect to a new device, you first need to click on "connect new device" on the computer so that it shows the PIN screen. Otherwise the computer will not show up on your phone at all if it's not already paired.

Since you mentioned VPNs in your OP, you have to close them before opening the program. If you only close/disconnect them while the program is already running, that won't work.

Now it is able to connect aft restarting the PC. Seems intermittent.

The app itself works always the same way and networking is a fairly standardized topic. We tested the networking feature extensively on various networks under different conditions and it works reliably unless a firewall or VPN blocks or redirects network traffic - which is fine because that's what these apps are literally programmed to do.

Incidentally you seem to be using both so if you continue to have connection issues, the most sensible explanation for this is that one of your many networking apps is interfering with your local network traffic. The next time you run into any issues, please double-check that any firewall app ignores all traffic from ui32.exe and that the network ports 7884 (UDP) and 7889 (TCP) are not being blocked by any firewall, including any firewall built into your network router.

If you have not already, please double-check our mobile pairing problem solving guide:
