Circular Water Ripple Effect

I am working on creating a new wallpaper and need some help. I want to add water ripples to my image, but not like flowing water. I want circular water ripples that flow outwards. I don't want it to be like rain, more like individual water ripples that appear in a pond. Any ideas how I might accomplish this? Not seeing any useful results when trying to Google this. I have some experience using Gimp (similar to photoshop), but I'm not like a pro or anything. I haven't tried importing layer effects in Wallpaper Engine before so I'm not sure if that's the way to go or not and how that works exactly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
