Wallpaper engine acting weird

wallpaper engine keeps whining about being shut down wrong when i just close it by pressing the x and then turn my laptop off. if i have a wallpaper on and i close the app i cant select my desktop icons anymore(even with static wallpapers. right now I'm using a version of 'pixels') and i cant click the icon in my taskbar. it doesn't open WE nor does it show me the popup when i right click. sometimes it will ignore my settings and keep playing music while i have apps open.

please im at a loss
