Black Screen, opacity set to 100%.

After starting wallpaper engine my desktop is a black screen, icon opacity is set 100% and still black screen. after closing wallpaper engine my icons do not return. I have to restart my computer to see them again. i have tried setting opacity to 0% all the way 100% nothing changes. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled it. Not sure what else i can do.
