WE flickers and lags game

Sometimes when i play basically any game, WE suddenly closes (NOT THE APLICATION, JUST THE WALLPAPER SHUTS OFF) so i can see my normal background image and my game freezes and then it comes back. its only for a second or so but if im playing something like Valorant when u sometimes happen to be in important scenarios this can be very distracting. Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening?

It sounds like your graphics driver is crashing and as a consequence both Wallpaper Engine and the game have to reload their renderer.

You can set the option "other application fullscreen" to "stop" or even add an application rule for Valorant to make it stop automatically, then Wallpaper Engine will be completely idle while playing games and not require your graphics card anymore.

so updating my graphics drivers could help ?

You can try to do a clean reinstallation of your graphics card drivers (uninstall first, then reinstall) but you should definitely try the other suggestion as well (set the "Other application fullscreen" option to "Stop (free memory)" in the Wallpaper Engine settings).

Hi so i tried this and it did not help. i also noticed that the same thing happens sometimes when im just on my desktop. i have tried to reinstall WE and that did not help. i also tried putting it in safe start mode same results.

This is not a bug with Wallpaper Engine so reinstalling cannot fix this, the issue is something very fundamental. Wallpaper Engine just uses your graphics card in normal ways and something is not stable, therefore this issue occurs.

Thanks for sending the log. Could you describe how often this happens and when it happened the last time?

There are a few graphics driver crashes logged, which would definitely freeze or black out the monitors, but not many, so it would help to check whether these driver crashes are what you mean or if it must be something else.

I.e. the last one was from the 16th of April, the day you made this thread, but there have not been others since then. The one before that seems to be from the beginning of March, so almost two months ago. Do you have the issue a lot more frequently?

yeah its more frequent then that. it happens almost everyday. sometimes when im not even in a game but i feel like i notice it more when im in a game so yeah

i could try to play a few days without WE to see if the problem remains cus then we can eliminate WE entirely
