Which process are you looking at, which wallpaper are you using? It largely depends on the wallpaper. For me, Wallpaper Engine is using 19 MB right now but depending on your wallpaper and settings it could be much more. Though 300 MB should not have any negative impact on a modern computer under most circumstances either way, so generally I would not worry too much about that.

the same can be said for some other applications like Chrome and steam. They all use like more than 100+ mbs

With that wallpaper I am seeing 60 Megabytes of RAM usage. Could you please share a screenshot of the high usage you are experiencing?

It's a bit on the high end, maybe run our analysis tool and share the log file it creates as outlined here while you see 300 MB of usage, I will take a look if I can spot anything:

Please share the log from the button 'Save Full Log', do not share the text, it serves no purpose here. Please read the link above again for exact instructions.

You have a lot of injections by third-party applications that add a lot of memory to the executable. You don't really need to fix this but this is the explanation for the memory usage you are seeing. These apps are injected and will bloat up the RAM usage:

Avast Antivirus - Make sure to exclude the wallpaper_engine directory from your antivirus app, then restart your PC. It's currently injected into Wallpaper Engine permanently according to your log file.

Nahimic (may be rebranded under a different name, it's usually pre-installed bloatware on notebooks and PCs from certain manufacturers and is usually some sort of "audio enhancement" software)

Intel Graphics Card drivers - If they have an option to disable some sort of in-game overlay, consider turning it off to reduce its footprint.

Wallpaper Engine RGB Plugin - If you do not need it, you can turn it off in the "Plugins" tab of the Wallpaper Engine settings.
