Wrong recognition of “Other application maximized” & “Other application playing audio”
Wallpaper Engine Problems, both wrong recognition of setting. First one is on an brand new windows 11 laptop, second one is on an old windows 10 laptop.

  • Problem 1: “Other application maximized” wrong recognition
    All problems remain no matter in the x86 or x64 version. I closed everything on the taskbar and system tray area (except OneDrive, Bluetooth icon, and Windows Security). Using Windows 11.
    Key information, when windows just open, it works perfectly. But wait for a while, it will fail.
    I tried Fully Resetting Wallpaper Engine [help.wallpaperengine.io] , but it doesn't work. This is a brand new computer so I'm really confused.

    1. setting 1
      Playback; Setting; If working correctly;
      Other application focused; Keep running; Yes;
      Other application maximized; Keep running; No;
      Other application fullscreen; Pause or Mute; Yes;
      Other application playing audio; Mute; Yes;
      Display asleep; Stop (free memory); Maybe;
      Laptop on battery; Keep running; Yes;

      In this setting, when I maximize another application, it still plays music.
      When I fullscreen another application, the music stops no matter if “Other application fullscreen” is “Pause” or “Mute”.

    2. setting 2
      Playback; Setting; If working correctly;
      Other application maximized; Mute; No;
      Other application fullscreen; Pause or Mute; Maybe;
      Other application playing audio; Mute; Maybe;
      Display asleep; Stop (free memory); Maybe;
      Laptop on battery; Keep running; Yes;

      In this setting, no application is maximized, and the music stops. Even on an empty desktop, with all applications closed and no application in the system tray area, the music stops while it still moves (which means is only muted, not paused).
      When I right-click any Windows icon on the taskbar (show the ‘Close windows’ panel) or when I press the ‘win’ key and show the Start panel, the music starts. But the music will start even if I have an application maximized. So in this situation, it doesn’t correctly recognize if another application is maximized.

    3. setting 3
      Playback; Setting; If working correctly;
      Other application maximized; Pause; No;
      Other application fullscreen; Pause or Mute; Maybe;
      Other application playing audio; Mute Maybe;
      Display asleep; Stop (free memory); Maybe;
      Laptop on battery; Keep running; Yes;

      Just like setting 2, it pauses whenever it mutes in setting 2. And when I show the Start panel, it starts to move and play music.

    4. Log from Use the Wallpaper Engine analysis tool to create a debug log [help.wallpaperengine.io]

      I got the log txt document, and I attached it at the end.

  • Problem 2: “Other application playing audio” wrong recognition (Another laptop, Windows 10, both the x86 version or x64 version doesn’t work)

    Playback; Setting; If working correctly;
    Other application maximized; Pause; Yes;
    Other application fullscreen; Pause; Yes;
    Other application playing audio; Mute; No;
    Display asleep; Stop (free memory); Maybe;
    Laptop on battery; Keep running; Yes;

    On the laptop, “wallpaper32.exe” plays audio. Then it detects “other application playing audio”, which is the wallpaper engine itself. So it stops. After that, since no application is playing audio, it will start to play music again. After that, it will stop again since it detects “other” application is playing audio.

    I tried Sound / audio turns on and off intermittently [help.wallpaperengine.io] , but it;s not due to recording. So it doesn't help.

Log txt for Problem 1 “Other application maximized” wrong recognition, the windows 11 one.

It's too large... How do I upload it? Send an email?

I have a similar problem, in the same format as your post:
Playback; Setting; If working correctly;
Other application focused; Mute; Yes
Other application maximized; Mute; No;
Other application fullscreen; Mute; Yes;
Other application playing audio; Mute; Yes;
Display asleep; Stop (free memory); I think so;
Laptop on battery; Keep running; Yes;

The only thing that works to keep the audio playing when I am sitting at my desktop with every other application (that I know of) minimized is to right click on the wallpaper, and when I click the windows logo.

Did you ever find a fix for your problem?
