Media integration wallpapers aren't picking up Spotify
As the title says, I've downloaded a couple of media integration wallpapers and they aren't picking up spotify even if it is using the windows media overlay without being interrupted by other apps

Is media integration enabled in wallpaper engine's settings?
If yes check if spotify is present in the "media blocklist".

Yes it is enabled, no spotify is not in the media blocklist, it doesn't even pick up that it's playing even tho spotify is showing up on the media overlay

That's odd, I have not heard of any issues with Wallpaper Engine being unable to access the media overlay. Just to double-check, can you try a wallpaper where I know that it should work for sure, for example this one:

Does the media overlay work with any other apps, Google Chrome will send media data to the overlay by default for example when watching YouTube videos. Alternatively you can use Windows Media Player with an audio file that contains meta data (song name, artist name, etc).

What version of Windows are you using?

I am using version 1703 of Windows 10 Pro
The media integration doesn't work with this wallpaper either, and no I do not have any videos or anything obstructing the overlay

Could you take a screenshot that shows the media overlay along with this wallpaper maybe? I just want to see if there is anything unusual about your media overlay, like I said, we have never had anyone with this issue before.

I think you also misunderstood my remark about YouTube videos, I essentially just wanted to know if the media integration works with another media player (such as Windows Media Player or Google Chrome's overlay support).

I have taken a screenshot but I'm not actually sure if I can post an image to a steam thread

You can share it through an image sharing service like www.imgur.com or send it to me via email at logs@wallpaperengine.io, thanks.

Hm, no, that looks all good, can you run our analysis tool and share the log file it creates as explained here:

Hey, sorry, looks like I forgot to reply here for some reason. What I noticed is that your Spotify is installed / running in this location:

C:\Users\home\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Spotify.exe

It could be that this is the source of the issue and it may be causing Spotify to misbehave. The AppData\Roaming directory seems like an unusual place for an installed app to be installed it and it's usually reserved for other uses. Can you try to fully uninstall Spotify, followed by downloading the Spotify installer and reinstalling it in a proper location?

https://www.spotify.com/download/windows/

A "good" / "valid" location would be "C:\Program Files\" for example.

It auto installs into that location and it doesn't really give me the option to change it, would just moving the folder to Program Files/ make it "valid"?

so I had the same issue and solved it with reading this https://help.wallpaperengine.io/en/audio/mediaintegration.html lol, especially this part:

Configuring your Media Player
Most modern media players support the Windows media overlay that is needed for this feature to function. Sometimes you need to enable it first. Open the settings of your media player and look for the appropriate option (sometimes also hidden away in the advanced settings). The option usually mentions a "media overlay" or "media hotkeys". If you are unsure, do a web search including the name of your media player and words like "media overlay".

I only had to activate "show desktop overlay when using media keys (not sure if this is the correct translation for the option since I'm german...) and it worked immediately!

Hope this works for you too.
