Wallpaper Engine
Windows Game DVR with audio recording
I have audio set to pause when audio begins playing on my computer but I noticed that having DVR enabled causes it to fade in and out.
I understand I can create a rule for it and all but I'm having troubles finding what program it would be and I can't seem to get it to show the sound icon next to anything.
Is it even possible to allow DVR to record audio while using this?

Try creating an application rule for Wallpaper Engine in the "Performance" tab of the settings. You will be presented with a list of all running processes except certain Windows processes, you should see a speaker icon next to the .exe that Wallpaper Engine detects as playing audio:

Since Windows does not tell Wallpaper Engine whether or not audio is being played or recorded, it gets confused here. So while the problem is happening, you should see this speaker icon somewhere next to one of the running processes. Once you find it, create an application rule for it and set the "Wallpaper playback" option to "Keep running".

If you figure out the name of the .exe, maybe share it here so that others can find it through a web search, I am also curios since I actually don't know which process is used for this feature.

Let me know if anything is unclear.
That's what I was meaning when I said I couldn't get it to show the sound icon next to anything that could be it - it's almost as if the process isn't even on the list or something

I did some googling and I found that it might be bcastdvr.exe but I have not checked this myself. Can you try and create an application rule for "bcastdvr.exe" (alternatively maybe with uppercase B: "Bcastdvr.exe") and see if that stops the issue from appearing?

So it should be like this:

Application name: bcastdvr.exe
Condition: Is playing audio
Wallpaper playback: Keep running

Make sure to type "bcastdvr.exe" exactly as is into the field even if Wallpaper Engine does not find anything, it will still handle it properly if that is the process that is recording audio.

Let me know if that works or not, I have not had the time to validate it myself since I got a ton of emails and posts to catch up on from the Christmas days.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like either variant of that is working
As an update I found in the volume mixer that muting "Host Process for Windows Services" will fix it, although I'm still searching for what the exe would be exactly
Figured it out, it's "svchost.exe"
Thanks for your help!
Having the same issue, none of the exe names have showed up for me, but something here has caught my eye to look into that I didn't know about which is "Windows Game DVR" in the post message. I'm wondering if I could disable it to fix the problem? Since I haven't turned it on in the first place and don't know what it is, I'm hoping it's not something I want on
