Issue with Clock in Scene
Hey all, so I decided to make my own parallaxing scene. It includes a background image, foreground image, some particles, and a clock in the middle of the screen, which is an asset that you can add directly from the Wallpaper Editor. However, the time seems to be off once in a while. It may say 20:15 when my system clock says 20:14, while other times it'll say 20:15 while system clock reports 20:16.

Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, how can I fix it? The scene is currently unpublished, if that makes a difference.

I am afraid I don't see anything odd there at first glance. It could be that McAfee is somehow the issue (antivirus apps love to mess with Wallpaper Engine) but I honestly don't know for sure. I assume it's not a huge deal, I guess you can just try and see if it goes away if you disable your antivirus and restart Wallpaper Engine but like I said, it's a bit of a wild guess at this point.

If you have not modified the clock code, that should not really be possible because the default clock assets take the time directly from Windows. I just double-checked and it works as intended for me at least. Either way, just go ahead and publish your wallpaper, if it's a bug in Wallpaper Engine, we'll look into it and fix it which would then also fix your wallpaper. Feel free to ping me once your wallpaper is up just so that I can double-check that myself.

Thanks for the response Tim. I uploaded the wallpaper to the Workshop, and I'm still having syncing issues.

Shows 16:21 at 16:20 and 16:22 system, but then jumps to 16:23 while it's still 16:22 system.
Screenshots were taken on the Workshop-downloaded wallpaper, not the "Editor-friendly" version.

I checked out your wallpaper (and also marked it as approved cause I actually like it) but the time works just fine for me. I am not sure what may be causing this but it must be very specific to your PC. Wallpaper Engine reads the time directly from Windows so it really should not be possible to differ, it's also the first time I ever hear about this so there is probably a very silly explanation for how this would be even possible.

You may have something installed / running which may be causing this behavior, you can try and run our scan tool and share the log file it creates, maybe I can see something odd in there:

Thanks! I appreciate the kind gesture and you taking time out of maybe more important issues to solve this tiny inconvenience.

Considering I've been out of subscription from McAfee for the better part of 3 years now, I uninstalled it to follow your hunch and unfortunately, it is still broken.

It's not a big deal, but I'm seriously grateful that you went through the work to try and find a solution to this issue. I'll just mark it as resolved since, as you said, my system is just kinda wonky.

On that note, would you suggest I try and reinstall Wallpaper Engine? Maybe I should have done that from the get-go, but perhaps it could fix the issue.

Hm, I think you can try but I don't think that will fix this, like I said, it's really straight forward and just reads the time from Windows, I would be quite surprised if a re-installation fixed this issue. If you ever solve it feel free to ping me though, I'd be curious.

After reinstalling and fiddling with the settings, I have come to the conclusion that DX9 causes the off-sync clock and switching to DX11 somehow fixes it. What an odd fix.

That is indeed a very weird issue, thank you for looking into it and letting me know, I will see if we can do something about that in a future update.
