WPE Stuttering On Desktop
My wallpaper engine started off working normally when initially booting. Sometime after some games and time on Google I went back to Desktop and it was either lagging, pausing and starting or stuttering for really long periods between frames.

However, after opening WPE itself it went back to normal. Any ideas what could have happened?

Usually this happens when the video RAM ends up being full but it sounds like this might not be the case for you if it happens while browsing the web. It could also simply be an odd graphics card driver setting. Try fully uninstalling all Nvidia software (Nvidia GeForce Experience + Nvidia graphics card drivers), then do a fresh reinstallation. The Nvidia driver setup actually has a "Perform a clean reinstallation" option, you can use that, just grab the latest one from their website and enable that option.

In Nvidia GeForce Experience, make sure to disable the "in-game overlay" aka Nvidia Share. On a small number of systems it can cause stuttering if it starts recording the desktop by mistake.

If that does not fix it, try setting the "Other application fullscreen" option in the "Performance" tab of the Wallpaper Engine settings to "Stop (free memory)".

Hi, I really appreciate your time and help. I will attempt the stop (free memory) setting as that is likely it (I didn't notice it there before only pause) since everything was just updated and freshly installed only a few days ago. I also doubt it is the overlay. If this resolves the issue I will update the thread for others.

Out of curious, could you confirm which memory it is freeing when it stops? VRAM or RAM?

Both VRAM and RAM, it will entirely unload the wallpapers from memory. Essentially the app stops and restarts itself with this option whenever you start or stop a fullscreen game or application. This can help with driver issues or memory limitations of any kind.

Well I'm not sure, obviously the issue hasn't occured since then but the wallpaper just restarts all the time which is somewhat undesirable for this wallpaper. It doesn't make much since what particular limitation it would be facing since I have plenty of both VRAM and RAM, my virtual ram alone is 4 GB though I am unsure if that is involved. In any case I will attempt to set priority back to normal as I suspect that might be it.
