Taskbar flickering
Hello people! I'm having an issue that I could use some help with. I got the WE yesterday and I've just noticed that my taskbar (transparency effects in Windows 10 are enabled) keeps flickering with my animated wallpaper in the background. This doesn't occur when I turn off the transparency effects but I really like those and I'd like to know whether there's a fix for this. For some reason, the issue does not occur while I have the Wallpaper Engine window open and running but as soon as I close it the flickering will continue. Can anybody help me out?
Thank you in advance

Hey, this is pretty rate Windows bug that Microsoft introduced with a Windows update about a year ago, but it only seems to happen on very few systems so there might be other elements to it to cause it to happen, we have not been able to really dive into it yet or seen a pattern because it's so rare.

Could you please run our scan tool and share the log file it creates as outlined here:

I'll take a look at your system and see if I can spot anything odd.

Thanks for your reply! Might it be that I'm running the 32-bit version of WE although my Windows 10 is 64 bit? How can I tell which version I am running? Also, how do I upload a file on here?

No, 32 Bit vs 64 Bit is irrelevant. Please follow the instructions on the page, it's best if you send an email to logs@wallpaperengine.io. It would be "best" if the problem was visible at the time you create the log file.

Looking at your email, as to be expected I don't really see anything but if you would like to try to dig into this, I would try the following things:

Your Windows 10 is not updated and you are still on the 20H1 update, open up Windows Update and upgrade install the 20H2 update (aka the "October 2020 Update") just in case it's causing issues with the RTX 3000 card.

It looks like you have a HP Omen series computer, I am not familiar with what kind of stuff comes pre-loaded on those but maybe try uninstall the Omen Command Center, maybe that tool does anything weird that causes Windows to flicker in combination with Wallpaper Engine. After uninstalling it, restart your computer and see if the issue persists.

I am not sure if I am reading it correctly but it could be that you have the Windows 10 GameBar active and maybe DVR, can you check if they are disabled and if not, disable them for testing purposes, maybe they are interacting with Wallpaper Engine by mistake:

Did you install McAfee yourself or did it come pre-installed with your computer? If you don't really need it and just use the Windows antivirus, I would recommend to also uninstall that for testing purposes though I think it's very unlikely to be the fault of display flickering like that.

It might just be this then! I have the exact same PC...

Have you tried uninstalling all HP software (followed by a system restart) for testing purposes? It could be that something that HP preinstalls on their machines causes this problem, in that case this issue could be forwarded to HP for a potential future fix.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Think I've found the cause to this bug, it is HP OMEN light studio causing the conflicting problem. In light studio, if you've set your keyboards RGB effect to "Ambient", it will cause the taskbar and also the news and interests window to flicker.

To remedy the problem, just select a different effect.. Hope this helps :)
