If the default wallpapers do work, you should check out step 2 and step 3 from this guide:
https://help.wallpaperengine.io/en/noshow/notplaying.html
Try changing the option "monitor identification" to "layout" in the general settings of Wallpaper Engine and re-apply your wallpaper. If this also does not work, does the desktop wallpaper turn black or anything or does just nothing happen and you still see the normal Windows background?
Or is even the context menu of the tray icon frozen and cannot be opened when you experience the issue?
Which version of the Nvidia drivers do you have installed currently?
Please try this:
- Disable auto start in Wallpaper Engine
- Uninstall Wallpaper Engine from Steam
- Manually delete this entire folder after uninstalling: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine
- Install Wallpaper Engine over Steam again, but keep the auto start disabled for now
If this is not enough to get it to work, please try closing any other applications. Maybe there is a conflict that is not known yet. There are a number of MSI utilities and a miner in the log, so it may be helpful to close everything out and see if it makes any difference.
Right now I don't have any reason to believe that the issue is *inside* Windows, but of course that's always possible, yeah. Maybe try reinstalling the graphics drivers and check the option for a "clean" installation first.
Also, it might help if you make a video of the entire desktop (or even both desktops, since you have two monitors). Maybe we are misunderstanding something obvious and that's why it's so difficult. If you want to make a video of the whole process and issue (i.e. start with Wallpaper Engine closed, then open it via Steam, try clicking on a wallpaper and even try playing it in a window) then you could send the video to logs@wallpaperengine.io as well.
