How to add custom iCUE profile to my scene wallpaper in editor?
I know Wallpaper Engine generates its own optional LED effects for every wallpaper now but I want to add my own to my scene wallpaper. I presume I have to export an iCUE profile and import it in the Wallpaper Engine Editor or something?

Seems like it should be obvious but I can't find a tutorial anywhere.

Wallpaper Engine copies an image from the wallpaper and transforms this into the LED colors, it's not using iCUE profiles.

You can create a custom effect by creating a new layer anywhere in the scene (it doesn't have to be visible) and enabling the option 'Limit iCUE to this layer' on the right side. This is what the two Razer wallpapers do, the Razer bedroom wallpaper has a rainbow effect which works by taking an image with the rainbow colors and adding a scroll effect to it.

Oh I see, I thought maybe there was some way to customise each key individually without relying on an image or a layer?

No, you can do that via iCUE.

Yeah but there's no way to tie it to a wallpaper in wallpaper engine. Oh well.
Just wanted to chime in and say while you can't 'tie' it. Depending on the complexity of the profile you can in theory up to a certain degree 'mimic' it.

You mean like mimic it by using a specific color image as a layer in Wallpaper Engine's editor?

That's what he means, yeah. You can just place a "hidden" layer (as the bottom-most layer for example) in the center of the wallpaper and then tick the "Limit iCUE & Chroma to this layer" option on that layer. The layer can just be a tiny 128x128 image layer that you can modify with effects or SceneScript and Wallpaper Engine will then use that for this layer exclusively. Another example would be what we have done with the Razer Bedroom wallpaper that comes pre-installed with Wallpaper Engine, which also uses an exclusive layer like that.
Indeed that is what I mean you can even with some patience map specific keys for your keyboard

Here is an example where I imported an animated sequence of layers (sprite) in order to spell 'super hot' on the keyboard (which is quite advanced/time consuming).

You can see some more examples of 'dedicated' LED layers here:

However once you've mapped the keys to match the size of the layer a lot is possible.
I'll probably make an asset to help users with this.

The Official Razor Bedroom wallpaper is a great start to peek in and see how its done (It is where I started).

If you're serious about having ago at creating your own I have made an asset with 12 effects to also be inspected or used how ever you want.

G'luck and by all means ask for help if you're unsure about anything!

While I'm here:

@Biohazard, I never could get 'thisObject.ledsource' to switch between layers. Is it defunct?
I wanted to be able to allow the user to switch between dedicated and fullscreen capture.

'ledsource' cannot be changed from scripts, maybe it shows up in the auto generated property list, but it's not supposed to be changeable.
Ok, thanks good to know.

That is very helpful, thank you.
