Pc freeze after display turns on again
Setup:

Wallpaper Engine on 2 monitors (1x hdmi, 1x dvi)

Windows turns off the monitors after 30 minutes when doing nothing.
When I move my mouse they should turn on again and I can return to my work.

But if Wallpaper Engine is active, I move my mouse aaand nothing. Both monitors stay black and I need to hard reset my pc. (If Music is playing via e.g Spotify, it is still playing tho, just the screen doesn't turn on again, and all inputs from mouse and keyboard are not working anymore.)

Which wallpapers were you using exactly and which graphics card do you have?
Faye Jun 20, 2017 @ 11:56am
RX 480 - newest driver version

1st Monitor (144hz) (DVI): Web Wallpaper (Video with time) (Name: Beautiful Anime Girl & Digital Clock)

2nd Monitor (60hz) (HDMI): A gif file.

Thanks, if possible, could you try replacing the first one with a stock wallpaper like the car (or any scene wallpaper) and try it later? Scenes should be the least prone to issues since they're just simple DirectX windows.

In any case, it might just be necessary to automatically close and restart the wallpapers when the monitor turns off and on again to avoid whatever is going wrong. Someone else had a similar issue with a video getting stuck, so I was going to add that soon.

---> How ?

Tested with stock wallpaper on both screens. Same issue.

Better issue description: Monitors off - Moving Mouse - Monitors on for ~3 seconds - Windows plug-out sound - Monitors off - Hard reset of system required

Is this from AMD ReLive? Can you try to disable it for Wallpaper Engine? (Or if AMD didn't implement that, can you disable it completely to check?)

I would have to code it.

It's definitely a Windows/AMD issue, my idea above might help avoid it, but now I think just preventing ReLive from hooking itself into Wallpaper Engine might do it.

I try to disable ReLive, message will follow in 2 minutes :)
Faye Jun 20, 2017 @ 12:55pm
amddvr.exe is ReLive. I disabled it, error doesn't occur anymore, but the Problem is still there.

No additional errors leading to the crash...
Faye Jun 20, 2017 @ 12:58pm
It feels like the graphic card is crashing. You should really implement such fix you mentioned.

(Im just a Java Developer, but maybe wallpaper engine overlaps with desktop activation)

Thanks for checking, it's too bad it didn't help.

The workaround I mentioned might be necessary then, yes.

Is there maybe anything else hooked up, like listed here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/431960/discussions/2/135508031951210104/ ? I haven't heard of this specific issue yet, but the hooks can cause some other crashes, so I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

Nope :)

you can turn on High performance on windows settings at Power Options and will no longer turn your monitors off, that's a better way to fix that problem. :ok_ay:

I think the issue could also be that Windows returns bad monitor sizes, so I tried to filter those now.

Very rarely when I use standby or display sleep, all open windows get messed up. So clearly there are some resolution changes happening (which not even Windows handles itself properly :/ ).
