Can't download wallpapers from steam workshop

so, I came across a decent collection that I wanted to download. simple enough, I went through and subscribed to all the workshop items from the creator. not even halfway through (after about maybe 20 of the total 279 ish), the downloads suddenly stopped. Wallpaper engine says "generic error", and on the steam downloads, it says "paused: missing downloaded files". not missing priveleges, it's apparently missing "downloaded files", which makes no sense because it won't download the files. i click force update, and in wallpaper engine, it jumps to 100%, despite it being a file over 100mb, and on steam it still shows missing downloaded files. no matter what i try, I cannot download almost any workshop item from this one creator. it's not a connection issue, as I have a 300 mbps download speed, and can download plenty of other things through steam perfectly fine. i tried verifying the integrity, i tried clearing my steam download cache.

the only thing that seemed to work, was one time i closed wallpaper engine, then steam magically was willing to download the files. but once i entered wallpaper engine again after a hefty 48gb download worth of wallpapers, it still showed that the wallpapers were stuck at either 0% or 100%, instead of completed downloads. so, i painstakingly went through to process of unsubscribing from all the workshop items that had the 0%/100% issue, and now I'm back at square one.

I like to consider myself pretty tech savvy, and I have done everything in my power to try and solve this myself, from reading other peoples discussion pages, google searches, youtube tutorials, and other various troubleshooting methods regarding both wallpaper engine and steam itself, but nothing seems to work or isn't the issue I'm having. I'm beggin for help here m8's.

So first things first, Wallpaper Engine just reports whatever status that is forwarded by Steam, if Steam is bugging out hard, ignore the download status in Wallpaper Engine.

That said, "Missing downloaded files" is usually the result of antivirus software deleting the file as Steam is downloading them. If you are using any sort of antivirus / firewall software, check if it may be blocking Steam from functioning properly. You may also want to try clearing the Steam download cache and then try again:

If worst comes to worst, your Steam may be broken, doing a clean re-installation of Steam does surprisingly often fix issues like that. Follow this guide and be sure to keep a backup of the Steamapps directory as described there:

@Tim I have a question. I get the "missing downloaded files" and generic error thing when I open, but I tried everything on the "stuck at 0% or 100% page.including uninstalling and reinstalling steam as a whole, just the game, changing all the things it said to change, and verifying the files. what action should I take next, I don't know what else to try

The missing downloaded files error of Steam can be fixed by deleting this directory while Steam is closed:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\downloads

Apparently I have a C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\downloads and a D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\downloads and I didn't even think of looking there till I saw your message. thank you
